Harrogate Ladies' College

Address: Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Bruneian students: 3 ( 3 Upper six, 0 Lower six)

Assalamualaikum, greetings from Harrogate Ladies' College students!

Waalaikummussalam, Ok please introduce.

Introducing the only HLC students of 2013/2014: Aliana, Husna and Syadirah! *clap clap clap*

Err, go on?

HLC is right in the center of Harrogate. It takes approximately 3 hours to travel from London Kings' Cross train station to Harrogate station with either a change in Leeds or York. Yes, we have to look out for our heavy luggage for 3 hours in every trip. Luckily our school do not have exeat unlike some schools ( have to leave school on some weekends ). We are the furthest from London compare to sixth form schools that the other Bruneian students are currently attending.

Okay so what is so special about Harrogate?

You mean the town? It is a tourist attraction. Everything is clean from the buildings to the surrounding air. The people of Harrogate are very friendly considering that there are many elderly. I mean, really healthy elderly. Harrogate is famous for Bettys' restaurant and maybe the beautiful town center because it is absolutely lovely.

I wasn't  ready to ask about 'Harrogate' town! I meant what is so special about 'Harrogate Ladies'' school?

Sorry, I know the name is quite long. What about referring it as HLC instead, like we always do?

Fine then.

120 years ago it was one of the few ladies' school which stood up for girls' academic life in those era along with schools like Cheltenham Ladies' College. We had a good academic life here and had the opportunity to visit many place in this part of England including Leeds, York, Manchester, Lancaster, Durham, Newcastle, Leicester and many more in just one year!! We even visited a cave once, it was awesome! All the teachers in this school are very helpful and supportive especially during upper six when works are piling up and UCAS statement needs to be prepared. We even have a teacher coming to our boarding house every Wednesday to help us with maths, personal statement or to chat with. Our tutor are always ready to help(when they are free). We have a business school on the 2nd floor where it is specified for subjects like Economics, Accounting, Business Studies and other business related subjects and had won the....
Yippee!

Not to forget we have our own HLC Brunei fried chicken served sometimes. They even display it in the school menu.

Really? Brunei Fried Chicken?

Yes, Here is the proof.

I see.

We have our own green cloaks to keep us warm especially during the winter season. Pretty useful, we can use it as a blanket but no, we won't use it outside on the corridor though.

HLC is a small college. We know almost everyone in the sixth form after a year in HLC! We easily overcome homesickness here because we are surrounded by wonderful friends <33

The other thing is that we have corridors of study rooms. Maybe there are about 30 study rooms for the sixth form students. Some are shared between 2 or 3 people but at most 7 people share a room but of course the space is really big. We spend our free periods here. I (Husna here;D) share a study room with the other two beloved Bruneians *cough cough*.

In our study room we can study and eat!

Eat??

Yes

What is it like to board it HLC?
To be continued....
